Match the room's lighting
North-facing basements look colder, so warm earth tones (Outback, Wombat, Bambi) balance them out. Sunny garages handle cooler blues and greys (Tidalwave, Shoreline, Pumice) without feeling washed out.
Vinyl flake blends for epoxy and polyurea floor coatings. Move your mouse over any swatch (or tap on mobile) to see that blend installed on a real Chicago floor. We bring physical samples to every estimate.
Same-week on-site visits
A flake floor is a multi-layer system: pigmented epoxy or polyurea basecoat goes down first, then we broadcast coloured vinyl flakes into it to rejection. A clear polyaspartic topcoat seals everything in. The flakes hide minor concrete imperfections, add slip-resistant texture, and give the finished floor its distinctive multi-tone look.
The same flake blends below work with both epoxy and polyurea-polyaspartic systems — so pick the colour you want first, then we'll match the right resin system to how you'll use the floor.
Standard and custom colour blends in one place. Hover or tap any swatch to see how it looks installed on a real floor. Same blends work with epoxy and polyurea-polyaspartic systems.
Kept in stock. Fastest scheduling — typical lead time 1–2 weeks.
Lower-stock blends and pigment-matched mixes. Add ~$0.50–1.50/sqft depending on the blend; lead time 2–3 weeks.
Don't see what you want? The full manufacturer catalog includes 100+ additional custom blends we can source on request. Pricing varies with the chosen blend; we'll quote it during the on-site estimate when you bring a target colour or sample.
The same blend can read totally different in two rooms. Here's what we tell every customer to think about before settling on a colour.
North-facing basements look colder, so warm earth tones (Outback, Wombat, Bambi) balance them out. Sunny garages handle cooler blues and greys (Tidalwave, Shoreline, Pumice) without feeling washed out.
Darker blends with more colour movement (Domino, Carbon, Blacktop) hide tire marks, dust and spills better than light solids. Light blends (Bambi, Pumice, Coldwater Canyon) make a basement feel bigger but show every footprint.
The floor doesn't have to match the cabinets — but it should agree with them. Bring a paint chip, a cabinet door, or a photo of the wall colour to the estimate so we can compare with the physical sample boards.
The 16 standard blends are kept in stock — typical scheduling lead time is 1–2 weeks. Custom or pigment-matched blends add a week or two for sourcing. Same install quality either way.
The flake itself is identical between epoxy and polyurea systems. Pick the colour you love first, then we'll match it to the right resin (epoxy for budget indoor floors, polyurea for 1–2 day installs and outdoor exposure).
Photos online never look the same as flake under your actual lighting. We bring physical sample boards to every free estimate so you can hold the swatch up to your wall, your cabinets, your existing decor — and know what you're getting.

We recently had our laundry room floor done with epoxy, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the company was professional, punctual, and clearly experienced. They took the time to properly prepare the surface, which really shows in the final outcome. The finish is smooth, durable, and looks absolutely amazing.

Floor RefinishingThree locations let us respond quickly across the entire Chicago metro — from the city to the far suburbs. Free in-home sample boards on every estimate.
We also travel to select projects in southern Wisconsin and northwest Indiana — contact us to discuss your location.
Same five steps on every flake job — diamond grind, repair, basecoat, broadcast flake to rejection, polyaspartic topcoat.
We inspect your concrete, look for cracks, moisture and previous coatings, and talk through how you use the garage. You get a clear written estimate and timeline before any work starts.
We diamond-grind the concrete to open the pores and remove weak or contaminated material. Proper grinding is the most important step — it's what lets the coating bond tightly and last for years in Chicago's climate.
Pits, cracks and spalls are repaired so the finished floor looks smooth and consistent instead of highlighting existing damage.
Based on the system you chose, we apply a primer or basecoat, broadcast decorative flakes if selected, scrape and vacuum, then finish with a durable polyaspartic topcoat.
We review the finished floor with you, explain cure times for Chicago temperatures, and share simple cleaning and maintenance tips so your coating keeps looking great.
The questions homeowners ask us most when picking a flake colour.
Flake floors are a multi-layer coating system where coloured vinyl flakes are broadcast into a wet epoxy or polyurea basecoat, then sealed with a clear topcoat. The flakes hide minor concrete imperfections, add texture and grip, and give the floor its distinctive multi-tone look.
Same flake blends work with both epoxy and polyurea systems.
Three things drive the decision:
Lighting — north-facing basements pull cooler tones (Tidalwave, Shoreline) while sunny garages handle warmer earth tones (Outback, Wombat). What you want hidden — darker blends with more colour movement hide tire marks and dust better than light solids. What's already in the room — match or contrast existing cabinets, walls and trim.
We bring physical samples to every estimate so you can see how blends look under your actual lighting.
Yes. The same vinyl flake blends work with our epoxy and polyurea-polyaspartic basecoats.
The choice between systems is independent of colour — pick the look you want, then we'll recommend the right resin system based on how you'll use the floor (indoor vs outdoor, vehicle traffic, UV exposure, budget).
Standard blends (12 colours) are what we install most often and keep in stock — fastest turnaround, included in standard pricing. Custom blends (17 above + 100+ more from the manufacturer catalog) are less common combinations and pigment-matched mixes.
Custom blends typically add $0.50–$1.50 per square foot depending on the chosen blend, plus 1–2 weeks of additional lead time for sourcing. The flake material itself is the same quality — the difference is stocking, sourcing and price.
Vinyl flakes are highly UV-stable — the flakes themselves don't fade. The variable is the topcoat. Cheap clear topcoats can yellow over time, which dulls the colour underneath.
Our standard polyaspartic topcoat stays clear long-term, so the flake blend you pick today is what you'll see in 10 years.
Enough to provide reliable slip resistance even when wet, but not so much that it's hard to sweep. The flake-broadcast surface feels textured underfoot, similar to a fine sandpaper.
For high-moisture spaces (kitchens, entryways) we can add an extra anti-slip additive in the topcoat for more grip.
Yes. We bring physical sample boards to every estimate — actual flake broadcasts, not just printed swatches.
Lighting matters a lot with flake floors, so seeing the boards in your actual space is the right way to choose. We'll also bring photos of recent installs in colours you're considering.
Our top sellers for residential garages are Outback, Gravel and Domino — neutral earth tones that hide dirt, salt and tire marks well.
For basements, Cabin Fever and Wombat are common picks because they read warm under typical basement lighting. For showpiece garages, Orbit and Bean offer more dramatic colour movement.
